No More “Maybe” Fests: Plan Smarter This November

Even the best stories get buried without a plan.
Festivals don’t reward effort - they reward positioning.
📍 This Week’s Big Moves
AFM Week Starts (Nov 11–16 – Fairmont Century Plaza, LA)
Online registration’s closed; badges now available on-site. The energy is intense, the meetings fast, and if your calendar looks like a Jenga tower - lean into it.
What This Means for You:
Ditch the dinner invites. Stack ten 15-minute stand-ups and lead with deliverables, comps, and audience data - not laurels. Your must-haves: a one-pager with logline, runtime, delivery status, and distribution comps. Screener links should be passphrase-protected with expiration.
Tallinn Black Nights (PÖFF) is rolling (Now–Nov 23 – Estonia)
Northern Europe’s FIAPF-accredited powerhouse. Official site confirms 2025 run with major press traction.
What This Means for You:
Stack meetings with Baltic/Nordic press and buyers. Lead with two pitches - one for artistic intent, one for market play. Include three stills, clean credits, and a sizzle under 60 seconds.
IDFA (Nov 13–23 – Amsterdam)
The global doc powerhouse drops its day-by-day schedule this week.
What This Means for You:
Schedule Benelux meetings now. Start emails with access + urgency, and explain why your 2026 release window still matters.
Denver Film Festival Wrapped Today (Oct 31–Nov 9)
Fresh off its 48th edition. Program hub is live - Q&A and reactions are still warm.
What This Means for You:
Pull 2 smart quotes from your audience feedback and update your pitch deck. Then send a quick “Denver reactions + current availability” note to your hot leads.
🔦 Spotlight:
Woods Hole Film Festival (Earlybird Deadline: Dec 1 – Cape Cod, MA)
Why it matters: A beautifully curated, destination-worthy festival with a reputation for top-tier programming, filmmaker hospitality, and a warm, arts-savvy community. Held annually from the last Saturday in July through the first Saturday in August, it's the oldest independent film festival on Cape Cod and the Islands. Yankee Magazine even named it one of the Top 10 Events in Massachusetts two years in a row.

🧠 Final Thought
Don’t just show up with a film - show up with a plan.
AFM, Woods Hole, IDFA, Tallinn - none of them reward passivity. But they do reward filmmakers who know how to position, pitch, and pivot.
