Your FilmFreeway page is the first thing a programmer sees.
Most filmmakers treat it like a form.
A practical training from a working festival programmer — so you can strengthen your submission package, stop making avoidable mistakes, and give your film a real shot before you spend another dollar on fees.

Filmmakers lose money on submissions every day.
Not because the film wasn't good enough.
Because the package surrounding it wasn't doing its job.
A weak synopsis. The wrong stills. A blank filmmaker profile.
A cover letter that reads like it was sent to every festival on the platform.
Programmers are forming impressions before they ever press play.
And when those materials create friction instead of confidence, strong films get passed over.
The submission fees still clear.
The rejections still land.
And most filmmakers never find out why.
That is the part nobody tells you to fix.

FilmFreeway is a Marketplace.
It processes submissions. It lists festivals. It takes the fee and sends the confirmation email.
It does not know your film. It does not know which festivals are worth your premiere status. It does not know whether your logline is landing or your stills are costing you credibility before anyone presses play.
And it has no incentive to tell you any of that. FilmFreeway earns a percentage of every submission fee — whether the festival is legitimate, worth your time, or one you should have skipped entirely. Every submission looks the same to the platform. The responsibility for knowing the difference is entirely yours.
Marketplaces prioritize volume. Curation is a different business model entirely.
The filmmakers who build real momentum are not submitting to more festivals. They are submitting with more precision. They understand what programmers see before the screener loads. They know how to make that first impression work for the film instead of against it.
That is a learnable skill. And it changes everything about how you move through the circuit.

Most filmmakers think they have a festival problem.
What they actually have is a presentation problem.
The film may be strong. But the submission package surrounding it may be working against it. A vague synopsis. Stills that do not communicate the world of the film. A filmmaker profile that looks unfinished. A cover letter that reads like it was copied from a template and sent to every open call on the platform.
Programmers are moving through hundreds of submissions. They are forming impressions before they ever press play. And when the materials create friction instead of confidence, strong films get passed over.
The fees still clear. The rejections still land. Most filmmakers never find out why.

Before a programmer ever watches your film...
they are already forming an opinion.
Your title. Your poster. Your logline. Your synopsis. Your stills. Your filmmaker profile. Your cover letter. Your overall presentation.
All of it is creating context. All of it is shaping whether a programmer feels curious, confident, and ready to champion your film — or uncertain, unimpressed, and ready to move on to the next one in the queue.
Reputable festivals will watch your film. That part is not the problem.
The question is whether they want to. Whether they lean in. Whether they pass it to another screener and say "check this one out." Whether they can already picture it in their program before the screener loads.
That process starts with your package. And most filmmakers have never been shown how programmers actually experience it.

INSIDE FREEWAY FIXR™
Five lessons. One afternoon. A completely different way of looking at your submission package.
LESSON 1 — FilmFreeway Is a Marketplace
Why filmmakers who treat the platform like a strategy end up spending more and getting less. What the platform is designed to do — and what it will never do for you.
LESSON 2 — Your Project Page Is Your Storefront
What programmers actually see when they open your submission. How to build a page that creates confidence instead of friction — from your logline and stills to your poster, credits, and supporting materials.
LESSON 3 — Your Filmmaker Profile Is Your Handshake
Why programmers click through to your profile and what they are looking for when they do. The small details that communicate professionalism — and the common oversights that quietly undermine it.
LESSON 4 — Yes, You Need a Cover Letter
When cover letters matter, when they do not, and how to write one that creates context without overselling. What programmers actually want to read — and what makes them stop reading.
LESSON 5 — See It Through a Programmer's Eyes
A full-picture look at how programmers move through a submission package. What deserves your attention, what you are probably overthinking, and how to prioritize improvements before you spend another dollar on fees.
By the end, you will know:
✓ What needs attention
✓ What already works
✓ What to fix first
✓ What to stop worrying about

Freeway Fixr™ is not another FilmFreeway Tutorial.
You can figure out where the buttons live on your own.
What most filmmakers never get is the view from the other side of the screen. How a programmer moves through a submission. What creates confidence and what creates doubt. What makes them want to keep reading — and what makes them move on.
Festivals are still run by people. Not algorithms. Not automated scoring systems. People who are forming impressions, making judgment calls, and deciding which films deserve a closer look.
Once you understand how those people experience your submission, you will never look at your FilmFreeway page the same way again.

Your Next Submission Should Be Smarter Than Your Last One.
Submission fees add up fast. $45 for an early deadline here, a $65 regular deadline there, a late fee you paid because you ran out of time to think it through... Most filmmakers spend hundreds — sometimes thousands — before they ever stop to ask whether the package surrounding their film is actually doing its job.
Freeway Fixr™ costs less than a single submission fee at most mid-tier festivals.
For $37, you will walk away knowing exactly how programmers experience your submission, what your package is doing well, and what to fix before you spend another dollar.
Every strong festival run starts with a stronger foundation. This is where that begins.

MEET THE PROGRAMMER BEHIND THE STRATEGY
HEATHER BRITTAIN
Most filmmakers learn festival strategy from other filmmakers.
I learned it from both sides of the table.
As an award-winning filmmaker, I have navigated the festival circuit myself — submitting films, building festival runs, collecting acceptances, collecting rejections, and learning firsthand how expensive and disorienting the process can be when you are making decisions without insider context.
But over the years, I gained something even more valuable.
A seat on the other side of the screen.
As a working festival programmer, I have reviewed thousands of submissions. And after seeing that volume of work move through the system, something became undeniable:
Most filmmakers were not making creative mistakes.
They were making positioning mistakes.
Strong films were underselling themselves. Talented filmmakers were spending hundreds — sometimes thousands — of dollars on submission fees without realizing how many opportunities were being lost before a programmer ever pressed play.
I found myself giving the same advice over and over in private consultations. The same fixes. The same blind spots. The same avoidable mistakes.
That is why I built Film Festival Insider™. And it is why I created Freeway Fixr™.
Because the most overlooked part of the festival process is not the film. It is how that film is presented before anyone watches it.
Programmers are evaluating your project page, your synopsis, your stills, your cover letter, and your overall presentation before they ever watch a frame. Most filmmakers never get a clear picture of how that process actually works.
Freeway Fixr™ exists to change that.
